15 simple ways to alienate people and sabotage your very best work

Sabotage!

Sabotage!

  1. Reserve your “generosity” for those who have something you want.
  2. Assume the people around you can intuit how much you appreciate them.
  3. Take every ounce of credit for the things that work without taking any of the blame for the things that don’t.
  4. Refuse to ask for help.
  5. Take without giving.
  6. Consider yourself to be fundamentally more important than the other humans around you.
  7. Take forever to respond to people.
  8. Talk badly about people.
  9. Show up late.
  10. Develop contacts instead of relationships.
  11. Inflate your accomplishments and diminish the accomplishments of others.
  12. Complain.
  13. Lie to people. (This is especially effective when used to cover up a mistake you’ve made)
  14. Focus on the negative aspects of everything and everyone.
  15. Be unreliable.

This list is just the tip of the iceberg, but I can (unfortunately) personally attest to the effectiveness of at least a few of these tactics. Your results may vary, but probably not much.
