In early 1988 Travis was finishing up the 6th grade and getting ready to enjoy another summer as a kid in Fairbanks, Alaska, but all that changed when his parents Linda and Terrell Lewis opened Date-Line Copies. It turns out summers are a little different when your family is growing a small business.
Through the early years of the company, Travis had a lot of opportunities to “help out†and learned valuable life lessons about hard work, determination, and the rewards that follow.
Working for his parents through Jr and Sr High School was a great opportunity, but after graduating Travis stepped away from the family business to follow other interests. He served a 2 year mission for his church and after returning home went on to pursue a degree in Engineering at UAF.
While attending UAF Travis lost his mother in a tragic accident that occurred while his parents were vacationing in Mexico. To say his world was turned upside down would be an understatement.
It was during this time that Travis began to think about his place in the family business. His dad was interested in finding and eventual successor and Travis realized then that he wanted to carry on the business. He decided to come back to the shop and be a part of Date-Line’s future.
In 2005 Travis’ dad was ready to move on and he and Geoff Welch partnered to purchase the business.
Travis is grateful for the opportunity to develop the business his parents started so many years ago and looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead.
