Jane Groseclose, the Communications Center Coordinator for UAF’s Office of Admissions, recently sent us a cool project to address and mail for the upcoming Discover UAF: Inside Out preview day on the University of Alaska campus here in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The free event affords high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to “ask questions, get answers and experience life at UAF,” and this particular mailer was sent to nearly 9,000 students this semester.
Jane supplied us with about 10,000 “pre-printed blanks,” which are 8.5×5.5″ cards that came to us with a static message pre-printed on one side. The back side was left blank so we could print an event-specific design from her InDesign file and addresses from her Excel file.
Travis used specialized software to process the list of addresses, certifying & sorting them according to USPS standards. The USPS sequenced address information was then incorporated into an address block in Jane’s InDesign file, and sent to our high-speed photocopiers for output. The printed cards were split into groups per specific USPS requirements, arranged in trays, and delivered to the Post Office for delivery.
